Here is the Addiction Blog RoundUp for the week. Happy reading (and watching)!
E-cigarettes May Promote Illicit Drug Use and Addiction
Bill over at What.Me.Sober has an interesting link to an article from Columbia Medical Center talking about e-cigarettes. It will be interesting to see where e-cigarettes take us and what the research starts to show.
In Praise of Neurogenesis
Over at Addiction Inbox this week, Dirk Hansen has an article talking about exercise and recovery. I like in the article where it is noted that “…simple exercise remains the single most overlooked element in most people’s recovery programs.” Exercise can play a key role in all of our lives.
Modeling Adulthood
There is a thoughtful read about adults modeling for kids in the realm of alcohol use written by Jeff Jay over at Love First. Something to think about.
Benefits of Support Groups for Friends and Family Members
Lauren Springer has a guest post up over at Cathy Taughinbaugh’s blog this week talking about support groups for parents and family members of individuals who are struggling with addiction. I like where she notes: “when we reach out to others and share our experiences, we get stronger. When we are stronger, the addicts in our lives have a better chance of recovery.” When I have run these groups, I have certainly seen this to be true.
How Mom’s are Being Wooed by the Marijuana Industry
And last but not least, I found this video over at Substance.com this week. In the beginning, one of the ad executives states that the marijuana industry is “Predicted to be the fastest growing industry in America”. Wow. I am not fond of this video. But there is a lot of education on a lot of levels here.
Have a great weekend!
